Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made the announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, citing the need for a more stable environment to run the state’s affairs.

Fubara’s decision comes after months of political crisis in Rivers State, including a protracted clash with members of the State House of Assembly. His move is seen as a significant boost to the APC’s influence in the South-South region.

The PDP in Rivers has yet to release an official statement, but internal consultations are reportedly ongoing to evaluate the impact of losing its sitting governor.

Fubara’s defection follows a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Monday, sparking speculation about possible political shifts .
