The Indian Defence Adviser to Nigeria, Colonel Manoj Singh, has visited the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen defence cooperation between both countries.
In a statement, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, said the visit reaffirmed the commitment of Nigeria and India to deepening bilateral military ties and advancing shared security interests.
During the meeting, Colonel Singh commended the Nigerian Army for its ongoing efforts to address security challenges and expressed India’s readiness to expand defense collaboration.
He highlighted plans to broaden training opportunities for Nigerian personnel and deepen technical exchanges in areas of mutual benefit.
Lt Gen Shaibu in his response, highlighted the importance of sustaining Nigeria’s long-standing partnership with the Indian Armed Forces.
He described India’s contributions to military training, capacity building, and defense development as invaluable and called for enhanced cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing, equipment support, and professional military education.
