President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with six governors from across the country as part of ongoing consultations to strengthen national security.

The governors in attendance were Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto).

The meeting, which lasted about 40 minutes, focused on key issues affecting their states, although specific details were not disclosed.

According Radio Nigeria correspondent at the State House, the engagement forms part of the President’s broader efforts to enhance coordination with state leaders on security matters.

This development comes as the Federal Government successfully secured the release of 100 kidnapped students in Niger State, following earlier rescues of abducted individuals in Kebbi State.
