The Jigawa State Government says it awarded contracts for the construction of 15 feeder roads valued at over ₦50 billion last year.
Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this while flagging off the construction of the Chuwasu–Chukwaikwaiwa–Zangon Maje feeder roads in Taura Local Government Area.
He explained that the 26-kilometre feeder road project was awarded to a construction firm at a cost of over ₦4.5 billion.
Malam Umar Namadi further explained that, the state government has expanded over 10 billion naira in roads infrastructure in Taura Local Government area.
He therefore urged contractors handling various roads projects to ensure the completion of the roads within the stipulated time.
Namadi also commissioned the new District head palace of Kwalam, constructed by Taura local Government council.

He expressed satisfaction on achievements recorded by chairman of Taura local government in the execution of capital projects in the area.
Umar Namadi also commissioned Taura electricity supply in Kwalam community that suffered prolonged darkness for over 20 years.
He explained that the reconnection is part of his campaign promises to restore power in communities that were thrown into darkness.
The Governor stressed that rural and urban electrification remain key components of his administration’s 12-point agenda to expand energy access, stimulate economic growth, and curb rural urban migration.
Some of the people in the area commended Governor Namadi for the restoration of the electricity in Taura.
Namadi also inspected parts of Taura primary health care center renovated by the local government council.
The local government has provided Beds and other hospital equipment as part of effort of improving the quality of healthcare services in public facilities.
