Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has pledged to clear the withheld salaries of workers whose employment status had been flagged as irregular in the state.

He gave the assurance while addressing protesting civil servants at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

Governor Kefas said staff whose appointments have been confirmed would begin receiving their salaries from Monday, while those with questionable or incomplete records would have their cases reviewed and paid after proper verification.

The governor’s intervention followed a peaceful protest by workers alleged to be ghost employees, who demanded four months of unpaid wages.

The protesters marched to the TY Danjuma House, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Pay us our salaries,” “We are not ghosts,” and “We have families to feed.”

They insisted that they are legitimate government workers and should not be denied their rightful earnings.
