Kaduna State Government has signed a strategic partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to expand renewable energy access, attract private investment, and drive sustainable industrial growth across the state.

The agreement was formalized during the Renewable Energy Roundtable jointly organized by the Kaduna Power Supply Company (KAPSCO) and the REA, under the theme “From Policy to Impact: Sustaining the New Kaduna State Electricity Market for Access, Investment & Industrial Growth.”

Governor Uba Sani, who presided over the event, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a transparent and investor-friendly electricity market that supports industries and delivers affordable, reliable power to citizens.

“Through this partnership with the REA, we are taking deliberate steps to power communities, empower businesses, and strengthen our economic base,” the Governor stated.

A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Government and the REA to deploy decentralized solar and off-grid solutions to unserved and underserved communities.

The Managing Director of REA, Mr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, commended Governor Sani for his visionary energy policies, noting that the collaboration will promote mini-grids, off-grid projects, and rural electrification initiatives that boost livelihoods and local economies.

Governor Sani emphasized that Kaduna is strategically positioned to become a national model for renewable energy development, leveraging its abundant solar, biomass, and hydro potential to power industries and rural communities.

The partnership aligns with Kaduna’s Energy Transition and Industrialization Plan, marking another milestone in the state’s quest for sustainable energy and inclusive economic growth.
