Three newly elected members of the House of Representatives have been sworn in by the Speaker House of Representatives Dr Abbas Tajuddeen.

The new lawmakers were sworn in following their emergence as winners of the by-election conducted by INEC from their different constituencies in August this year.

The new legislators are Mr Joseph Bagudu from Chikun-Kajuru federal constituency Kaduna state, Alhaji Muktar Rabi’u from Jigawa state and Mrs Omosede Igbenedion from Edo state.

‎Five members of House of Representatives emerged winners from
the August by-election but only three took oath of office with exception of two from Ogun and Oyo states who were absent during the house plenary session.

Four of the newly elected members were sworn in as a result of death after declaring the seats vacant while one of then resigned to contest for Deputy Governor in Edo state during the 2024 election.

Radio Nigeria correspondent reports that after the swearing of the new legislators the house immediately proceeded to a close door meeting to discuss other critical issues.
