Parents and caregivers have been urged to present their children for routine immunization to mitigate childhood killer diseases and reduce the number of zero dose children.

The director general Kano state primary healthcare management board SPHCMB Dr Salisu Ibrahim made the call during the zero dose learning hub ZDLH quarterly review meeting.

The hub focuses on tracking immunization budgets, strengthening accountability, and enhancing advocacy to reduce the number of zero-dose children.

Represented by the routine RI coordinator SPHCMB Auwal Idris stressed the importance of routine immunization to the overall health development of children from 0 to 23 months .

He stressed that, Kano is among the states with the highest number of zero dose children across the nation,hence the need for government and relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.

Auwal noted that, the state government in collaboration with development partners have recorded significant success as the number of zero dose children has significantly reduced across LGAs

Also speaking the Zero dose community of practice CoP state team lead Dr Musa Bello reported significant progress in reducing the number of zero-dose children in Kumbotso and Sumaila LGAs through joint efforts by government and partners.

He added that advocacy has increasingly been evidence-driven, using District Immunization Monitoring (DIM) data and human resources tracking for routine immunization at PHC facilities.

The session featured presentations, goodwill messages, and a panel discussion on the role of the media and civil society organizations in advancing advocacy for immunization.
