The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE internal, results.
NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, who announced the release of the results in Minna, Niger State, said out of the one million, three hundred and fifty-eight thousand, three hundred and thirty-nine candidates who sat for the June/July exercise, Eight Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-one representing 60.26 per cent scored 5 credits and above, including Mathematics and English.
Professor Wushishi stated that the number of candidates with five credits and above, irrespective of Mathematics and English is one million, one hundred and forty-four thousand, four hundred and ninety-six, representing 84.26 per cent.
He said 3,878, candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice as against 10,094 in 2024, which showed a reduction of 61.58 per cent.
The Registrar also disclosed that 38 schools were involved mass cheating in thirteen States.
He explained ”Thirty-eight schools were found to have been involved in whole school mass cheating in thirteen states.
”They will be invited to the Council for discussion after which appropriate sanctions will be applied. Similarly, nine supervisors, three in Rivers State, one in Niger, three in FCT, one in Kano and one in Osun State were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, lateness or unruly behaviour, assaults and insubordination.” he stated.
In the case of Lamorde Local Government, Adamawa State where eight schools were affected by a communal clash which disrupted their examinations, Professor Wushishi stated that the Council would conduct examinations for the affected Schools in line with the new curriculum being implemented.
While providing a breakdown of performance by states, he noted that Kano came first, Lagos second while Oyo took the third position.
