Former Zamfara State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangebe, has called on civil society organisations, traditional rulers, and faith-based groups to join efforts in urging the federal and state governments to establish official IDP camps in states worst affected by banditry to bring relief to victims.
He noted that, many displaced persons are currently taking refuge in nearby towns and communities where they struggle for daily food and shelter, while others have lost their lives, property, and means of livelihood due to persistent insecurity.
The cleric urged the federal government to allocate substantial funds for the establishment of standard IDP camps in states most affected by insecurity, particularly Katsina, Zamfara, Niger among others.
He also appealed to politicians to demonstrate genuine concern for the people who entrusted them with leadership, warning that, neglecting the displaced person could increase rising social vices such as theft, immorality, and begging, especially among women and children.
Sheikh Jangebe expressed concern that many victims now go from house to house, streets, and motor parks in search of assistance, a situation he described as both painful and alarming.
While expressing optimism that God will bring an end to the crisis, he called for continuous prayers and more decisive security measures to restore peace and stability in the region.
