Bauchi State government has inaugurated a special committee of Imams and Pastors to forster unity and peace in the fragile communities of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local government areas.
The state governor Bala Muhammad while inaugurating the Committee at Government House Bauchi pledged to deal decisively with miscreants trying to dismantled the existing peace and security of the areas.
Bala Muhammad said peace is paramount and a non negotiable business hence the need to involve community and religious leaders particularly the Imams and Pastors who have large followers to sensitise their followers on peace and prevent a resurgence of violence in the two local government areas.
The Governor charged members of the committee to work in synergy with various stakeholderls to ensure the sustenance of peace that has been consolidated in the two local government areas over the past three decades that has been broken over the recent farmer-herder clashes that led to the loss of lives and property.
He urged them to reports any suspicious activity beyond thier control to relevant security agencies for prompt action.
The governor outline terms of reference for the committee to include rigorous sensitization exercise on peace building, dialogues, workshops and seminars among others with a view to achieving the desired goals.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Co-Chairmen Faizu Ado Musa from Tafawa and Reverend Father Benson Bature from Bogoro local government areas respectively pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders including traditional and religious leaders, security agencies, in order to deliver on the task given to them.

Heads of various security agencies including the State Commissioner of Police, the State Director Security Service. Brigade Commander Arteller, Airforce among others attended the event.
