Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has warned local government chairmen to desist from selling or allocating forests and grazing reserves in their areas.

He gave the warning after the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairman of Gwaram Local Government Council, Alhaji Abdulkarim Musa Fagam, and the Vice-Chairman, Malam Nasiru Zubairu, at the Government House in Dutse.

He explained that local Government chairmen have no right to allocate or sale forests or grazing reserves without the permission of the state government.

Umar Namadi further explained that, the directive is aimed at ensuring peace and harmony between farmers and herdsmen.

Namadi also called on the newly sworn in local government chairman to have the fear God in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The state commissioner of Justice Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini administered the oath of office and allegiance to the new principal officers.
