Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, national unity, and sustainable development as the state marked the 2025 International Youth Day in Dutse.

Addressing corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, the governor assured them of safety and support during their service year, describing Jigawa as a land of peace and opportunities.

He announced the completion of key renovation projects at the orientation camp, including the male hostel, clinic, and main hall, with ongoing work on the female hostel to ensure decent and secure accommodation for all corps members.

Later, at a Government House reception for youths, Governor Namadi linked this year’s Youth Day theme: Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond, to his administration’s focus on empowering young people for sustainable development.

He highlighted various empowerment programs, including entrepreneurship and skill acquisition initiatives, the distribution of mobile food carts and micro-retail shops, training in handpump repairs, and multiple ICT trainings in partnership with NITDA, GLUWA, and the NDE.

The governor also revealed that nearly 10,000 youths have been engaged as local security guards, agricultural extension workers, teachers, and health workers under state initiatives such as J-AGRO, J-HEALTH, J-TEACH, and J-CARE.

Governor Namadi urged young people to avoid social vices, political thuggery, cultism, and drug abuse, warning that such behaviors threaten peaceful coexistence and waste human potential.

He reaffirmed that his government would continue investing in youth development as a foundation for economic growth and societal progress in Jigawa State.
