Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Marketer is the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority and Chairman of the Abubakar Marketer Foundation.

The Abubakar Marketer Foundation has disbursed three million naira as scholarship support to one hundred students of the Federal University Dutsin-ma FUDMA, Katsina State, all of whom are indigenes of Dutsinma Local Government Area.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the council secretariat, Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Kabir Shema Abdulsalam, described the initiative as timely and a welcome development.

He said the support aims to ease the financial burden of underprivileged students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The council chairman urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly for registration and academic needs, and appealed to other wealthy individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture to boost educational development.

Founder of the foundation and Executive Director, Finance and Administration at the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim Marketer, represented by Programme Coordinator, Malam Abdulwahab Gide said each beneficiary will receive thirty thousand naira.

He explained that the scholarship scheme, which started five years ago with only twenty students, has now grown to one hundred beneficiaries, with plans to expand further in the next batch.

Parents of the beneficiaries commended the philanthropist for his commitment to human development through education and urged the students to focus on their studies while avoiding social vices.

The initiative has received widespread commendation across Katsina State as a bold step toward fighting poverty and unemployment through education.
