The Kaduna State Government has vowed to punish anyone found diverting free fertiliser meant for farmers in the state.

Chairman of the Kaduna State Fertiliser Distribution Committee and Commissioner of Agriculture, Murtala Dabo, gave the warning during a review meeting of the exercise in Kaduna.

The meeting followed credible reports of sharp practices in a few local government areas, prompting the suspension of fertiliser distribution in Makarfi Local Government pending the outcome of a thorough investigation.

The committee assured that anyone found culpable, regardless of status, will face the full weight of the law.

It also reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in the free fertiliser distribution programme initiated by the Kaduna State Government.

The Fertiliser Distribution Committee comprises traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women, farmers, and representatives of the EFCC and the ICPC.
