Jigawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government has commended the Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government Council and his management team for the smooth administration of the council.
The Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Aminu Zakari, gave the commendation at the end of a two-day oversight visit to the Local Government Secretariat.
Aminu Zakari who is the member representing Gwiwa Constituency noted that adherence to administrative and financial procedures in Birnin Kudu Local Government Council is quite encouraging while positive comments from the legislative council and the management staff was a clear indication of the cordial relationship existing between segments of the local council.
He said two subcommittees were constituted to inspect projects at sites being executed by Birnin Kudu local council from October 2024 to date.
Presenting the report of Sub-Committee One, Alhaji Abdullahi Tura Musari, member representing Guri Constituency, said his team had inspected the construction of a hand pump at the College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kudu; the construction of a five-daily-prayer mosque at Kangire; the provision of prayer carpets at Zarenawa Mosque; the construction of another five-daily-prayer mosque at Chandam town; as well as the provision of additional infrastructure at Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Katafilu in Birnin Kudu.
Also presenting the report of Sub-committee number two member representing Kanya Constituency Alhaji Ibrahim Hashim Kanya explained that his team had inspected the construction of a five daily Prayer mosque at the cost of over 4.9 million naira at tsangayar Kwangwara, renovation of Health Post at the cost of over 2.1 million naira at Hirin town, on-goiing construction of Yalwan Damai District Head House at the cost of over 8.5 million naira.
While commending the local government for Yalwan Damai District head’s House project, Ibrahim Kanya called on Birnin Kudu Legislative Council headed by the Speaker, Ukkashatu Sa”idu Hirin, to engage on oversight visit of projects being executed by the local council at site as part of the function of the legislature to ensure quality.
Other members of the committee presented reports on legislative council proceedings, standing committees meeting minutes, administrative and financial documents where corrections and recommendations were provided.
In his response, the Chairman Birnin Kudu local government council Builder Dr Muhammad Uba who described the deliberations of the committee as educative, expressed his readiness to make good use of the advise and recommendations provided by the committee to further strengthen the development process of the area.
Builder therefore, commended Zonal Inspector of the Ministry for Local Government Malam Usman Ya’u who always provided the necessary support that will guide the conduct of administrative and financial matters in the local council.
