Southern Kaduna Aid Foundation SKAID has rolled out a two-month intensive capacity-building training program to equip youth in Southern Kaduna with life-changing skills for self-reliance.
Speaking at the official inauguration, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, Rear Admiral Fagason Bobai (Rtd), said the training is aimed at improving the economic status of the participants, who were selected from the eight Local Government Areas of Southern Kaduna.
He stressed that practical skill expertise is essential and highly sought after in today’s economy, while traditional white collar jobs are hard to come by.

Rear Admiral Bobai who said starter parks will be given to them after the sixty day training exercise charged them to be disciplined and attentive in acquiring the needed skills for their well being.
The Chairman also encouraged the participants to establish networking platforms for ongoing collaboration by sharing post training progress to inspire peers, and addressing their collective concerns.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Mr Bello Bisalla said the training was part of a broader objective of the Foundation to empower indigenous residents with requisite skills to provide services that are lacking in the region.
Mr Bello Bisalla added that it was also a deliberate strategy to build the capacity of the youth to be able to add value to the economy of Southern Kaduna and the state at large
The Executive Director itemized the areas of the training to include, Electrical and Electronics Repair and Solar Installation set up, Welding and Fabrication, Beauty Care and Make up among others.

In a remark, the village head of Zonzon in zangon Katef Local Government Area, Mr Alang Angulu Wakili said the training was a good opportunity for the youth to learn new skills and contribute meaningfully to their community and the state.
A cross section of the trainees, Andrew Sichet, Bathsheba Joseph Bityong and Peter Sabastine Zwahu expressed gratitude for the privilege and assured of effective utilization of the opportunity.
