As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks two years in office on May 29, 2025, Nigerians across the country are witnessing the unfolding of a bold, visionary, and people-centered transformation. From landmark economic reforms to sweeping infrastructure projects and unprecedented investments in security, education, and agriculture, the Tinubu administration has kept faith with its Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu’s leadership is being celebrated for restoring confidence, driving growth, and repositioning Nigeria as a beacon of stability, innovation, and prosperity on the African continent.
Economic Renaissance: Driving Sustainable Growth
From the onset, President Tinubu took decisive steps to revamp Nigeria’s economy. His administration’s removal of the fuel subsidy and unification of the exchange rate marked a turning point in Nigeria’s financial history—unlocking over ₦9 trillion in additional revenue and redirecting funds toward capital projects.
Nigeria’s fiscal deficit reduced significantly—from 5.4% to 3.0% of GDP while debt servicing as a share of revenue dropped from 97% to a much healthier 68%. These reforms have not only stabilized the economy but also attracted renewed confidence from global investors.
The clearing of over $5 billion in foreign exchange backlogs and the improved availability of forex further demonstrate the administration’s commitment to transparent, investor-friendly policies.
Energy & Oil Reforms: Unlocking Nigeria’s Potential
Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria’s oil production surged to 1.61 million barrels per day. The reconstitution of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) brought about a new era of transparency and efficiency in the oil sector.
The administration also launched the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative—an innovation that will reduce transportation costs, promote clean energy, and save the country over ₦2 trillion in monthly fuel imports.
With over $5 billion in new oil and gas investments already secured, Nigeria is once again taking its rightful place as a leading energy giant.
Security and Stability: Building a Safer Nation
President Tinubu’s administration has prioritized national security with tremendous success. More than 4,600 hostages have been rescued, 9,300 criminals neutralized, and over 7,000 apprehended in coordinated operations.
The President approved the recruitment of 30,000 police officers annually, ensuring Nigeria’s law enforcement is strengthened like never before. The Armed Forces and the Nigerian Air Force have been modernized with new aircraft and tactical equipment to secure the nation’s territorial integrity.
Agriculture and Food Security: Feeding the Nation
In response to the global food crisis, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency on food security and immediately rolled out impactful measures. These include the removal of duties on key agricultural imports and the launch of the National Agricultural Development Fund with ₦100 billion.
A Dry Season Farming Programme covering 500,000 hectares is already in full swing, with support from the African Development Bank—marking the beginning of year-round farming in Nigeria.
Massive Infrastructure Drive: Connecting Nigeria
The Tinubu administration is constructing the iconic 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway—one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in Africa. This project will transform coastal trade, tourism, and transportation.
Rail services are back on track, with the successful operationalization of the Port Harcourt–Aba railway line. The Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF) has been launched to raise ₦20 trillion for national infrastructure projects, including roads, power, bridges, and housing.
Education and Youth Empowerment: Investing in the Future
For the first time in Nigeria’s history, students now have access to interest-free loans through the Higher Education Student Loan Scheme. With over 500,000 applicants, the initiative has become a lifeline for young Nigerians pursuing their academic dreams.
In addition, the administration is empowering millions through conditional cash transfers and grants for small and medium enterprises. This is part of the wider Renewed Hope Social Investment Programme, designed to uplift vulnerable citizens and create jobs.
Healthcare Transformation: Quality and Access for All
Healthcare is receiving robust attention. The number of primary health centres is set to rise from 8,800 to over 17,000 nationwide in the next three years. Specialized hospitals, including cancer and diagnostic centres, are under construction, ensuring Nigerians have access to world-class healthcare.
A Renewed Nation with Renewed Hope
From economic transformation to social impact, from infrastructure to food security, President Tinubu has laid the groundwork for a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.
As he continues to deliver on his promises, the President remains committed to building a nation that works for all. The second half of his tenure is expected to consolidate these gains, further empowering Nigerians and reinforcing the country’s position as Africa’s leading nation.
