The Federal Government has been advised to pay resettlement arrears owed to Abuja indigenes to facilitate their proper relocation, which has been pending for years.

A financial expert, Professor Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, gave the advice in response to calls by some elites for the relocation of affected communities along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor.

Professor Yusha’u Ango described the calls as unfortunate, stressed the need for adequate compensation and comprehensive plan for their relocation in addition to provision of jobs opportunities to justify their sacrifice.

He blamed corruption, lack of sustainable welfare and social infrastructure for their dilemma which should be addressed rather than adhoc approach by the FCT officials.

Professor Yusha’u Ango also commended on the appeal by the House of Representatives to the Finance Ministry for payment of pension arrears which is long overdue.
