Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated four Nigerian nationals for making historic political breakthroughs in the United Kingdom.
In a statement issued by Gabriel Odu of NiDCOM’s Media and Public Relations Unit, Dabiri-Erewa hailed the electoral victories of Dr. Adekunle Osibogun, Princess Opeyemi Bright, Councillor Jason Utitofon Jackson, and Councilor Sunny Lambe across various UK boroughs.
Princess Bright made history as the youngest-ever Mayor of Barking & Dagenham, while Cllr. Jackson became the first Black Mayor of Islington. Cllr. Lambe’s elevation to Mayor of Southwark was also applauded, marking a new chapter in his longstanding public service career. Meanwhile, Dr. Osibogun secured re-election as Councillor for both Buckinghamshire Council and Buckingham Town Council.
Describing their wins as “record-breaking milestones,” Dabiri-Erewa commended their resilience, leadership, and unwavering dedication to public service. She emphasized that their achievements not only bring pride to Nigeria but also serve as a beacon of hope for young Africans in the diaspora.
“These successes reflect the spirit of determination and brilliance that Nigerians bring to the global stage,” Dabiri-Erewa stated, offering prayers for strength, protection, and wisdom as they continue their service in office.
She urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence and representation, inspiring a new generation of leaders beyond borders.
