Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for Senior Secondary Schools across Nigeria, with the aim of fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, and the holistic development of students.

The Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi made the pledge during the flagging off of the Quality Assurance Monitoring and Evaluation of Senior Secondary Schools at the Federal Government College, Malali, Kaduna.

Dr. Ajayi emphasized that the initiative, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, recognizes education as not merely a tool for individual advancement, but as a cornerstone for building a prosperous and equitable society.

The executive Secretary noted that the commission is focused on human capital development, with the aim of equipping citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century.

He explained that the Quality Assurance Monitoring and Evaluation initiative is designed to identify strengths and weaknesses in schools, discover areas of excellence, and pinpoint where improvements are needed.

The Executive Secretary emphasized that the initiative will also serve as an opportunity to share innovative teaching methods and strategies, as well as offer constructive feedback to empower educators, enhancing their operational capacity and improving student outcomes.

The Commissioner for Education in Kaduna State, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello who expressed delight, described the selection of Kaduna as a strategic move to deepen collaboration with the NSSEC in efforts to reposition Senior Secondary Education across Nigeria.

Represented by Professor Usman Abubakar Zaria, the Commissioner commended the NSSEC for its sustained efforts and alignment with the state government’s shared commitment to ensuring quality education and improving student outcomes.

The Commissioner assured full cooperation from the state, stating that four key schools in the metropolitan area, across federal, state, and private institutions, had been identified. Logistics had been arranged to support the deployment of evaluators and communication with school leadership.

The exercise featured inspection of classes and visit to some selected schools within the metropolis to ascertain their operational capacity to deliver quality education to students of senior Secondary schools.
