Members of the Ward Development Project Committee to be constituted across the two hundred and seventy four wards in Niger state have been warned against taken bank loans to execute the project.
Instead they should initiate projects based on their monthly allocation of three million naira to ensure the success of their assignment,
Chairman of the State Steering Ward Development Project Committee, Phallalu Bako Mohammed gave the warning during a sensitization exercise at the palaces of Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger state Council of Traditional Rulers , Emir of Borgu and that of Kagara.
Phallalu Bako who is also the Commissioner ‘Ministry of Rural and Community Development, however warned that Niger State Government would not hesitate to sanction any ward committee member that obtain bank loan to argument the three million naira monthly allocation for the ward.
The Chairman, Ward Development Project state steering committee stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure that ward development project meet the required specifications to achieve it’s target.
He however appealed to traditional rulers and stakeholders to collaborate with various ward committees to ensure prudent utilization of the funds made available to them.
In their separate response, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, Emir of Borgu, Barrister Muhammad Sani Haliru Dantoro and Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmed Gunna the second, promised to work closely with the ward development committees to achieve thr desire objective, which they said would bring development closer to people at the grassroot level.
Meanwhile members of the All Progressive Congress(APC) across the 274 wards in Niger State have been directed to steer clear of funds allocated for the ward development project as any one found wanting will be penalized to serve as deterrent to others.
It could be recalled that Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has approved the release of eight hundred and twenty two million naira monthly for the execution of Ward Development Project across the two hundred and seventy four wards in the state.
