Seven people have lost their lives and eleven others seriously injured in a truck accident at Essa community on Agaie Badeggi road in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger state.

Director General Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA Abdullahi Baba Arah confirmed the accident in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna.

According to Abdullahi Baba Arah, the truck was carrying Federal Government grains, and some passengers numbering 36, all of them male heading to Kano state from Lagos state when the accident occured.

The accident occurred around three o’clock in the morning today due to bad road, that is, the potions of the road that were yet to be reconstructed on Lambata, Bida axis

As at the time of filing this report, 7 people were confirmed dead,  11 people with a high degree of injuries, while 5 people sustained minor injuries.

Some of the injured people have been taken to Badeggi and Agaie health centres, others were taken away by their colleagues while the deceased were also taken away by their relatives for funeral.

Meanwhile search and rescue operations were carried out by NSEMA alongside commuters and some villagers near the scene of the incident.
