A new machine worth over five hundred million naira known as the Scantron Insight fifteen hundred C that would enhance the efficiency, credibility and security of assessment process has been commissioned by the National Examinations Council, NECO,
Commissioning the machine in Minna, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, reaffirmed the Council collective commitment of using technology as an enabler of transparency, efficiency and excellence in the education sector to achieve the desired objective.
Prof Dantani Wushishi would however wants staff of NECO to embrace this development to maximize its potential in their day to day operations.
He said with this development, the new high speed machine which uses digital cameras devoid of scanners is capable of producing fifteen thousand sheets per hour and two hundred and fifty sheets per minutes.
According to Professor Dantani Wushishi the Scantron Insight 1500C is a high Performance Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Scanner known for its precision, speed and ability to handle large volumes of scripts efficiently which will significantly enhance data processing capabilities and ensuring faster and more accurate results processing for millions of candidates across the country.
This he said aligns with NECO’s vision of delivering world class examination services while maintaining the integrity of its assessment system.
Prof Dantani Wushishi also said the number of days hitherto spend waiting for examination results will drastically reduce.
In his remarks, Mr Tom Harry from the United States of America, while expressing appreciation for the reception accorded him added that staff of NECO are one of the best technical staff he has come across in the world.
