Parents in Katsina State have described the closure of all private health institutions by the state government as a commendable effort to sanitize the healthcare system.
One of the parents, Malam Aliyu Abbas Daura, made these remarks while commenting on the closure of such institutions and the activities of the committee set up to investigate the matter.
He stated that the measures taken by the state government to regulate these institutions would undoubtedly help reduce the number of unqualified medical personnel across the state.
Similarly, Malam Abbas Daura also urged the state government and the committee set up by the state governor to devise more effective strategies to fulfill their primary assignment so that students can join their colleagues across the country for normal academic activities.
According to him, the investigation can be completed on time, even while school activities continue, considering the caliber of people assigned to the task.
He further stated that this would help prevent students from engaging in social vices.
In his contribution, Malam Kabir Abdullah Katsina called on the state government to assist their children in returning to their normal classes, as the academic calendar is already in progress.
According to him, the first committee spent five (5) months without concluding the exercise, while the second committee spent over three (3) months.
In total, both committees have spent over eight (8) months without reaching a conclusion, leaving students idle at home while the academic calendar at the national level continues.
He emphasized the need to establish more qualified schools to engage students in their education.
In an interview, the Chairman of the Coalition of Private Health Institutions of Katsina State Student Union, Comrade Nu’uman Abubakar, expressed concern over the closure of their schools, which has left them stranded, while calling on the state government to reopen these institutions without further delay.
He added that their parents are also worried, as they have invested significantly in their education to help them become responsible members of society. However, the students are now left stranded. He urged Governor Dikko Umar Radda to address their concerns.
