The Jama’atu Nasril Islam-JNI has advocated for the unity of purpose among Muslims irrespective of differences.

President General of JNI and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar made the call at the annual Pre-Ramadan meeting held at the conference hall of the JNI National headquarters in Kaduna.

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar stressed the need for Muslims to accommodate their differences and work together towards achieving a common goal.

He expressed the readiness of the JNI to continue to unite Muslims under one umbrella.

Also speaking, Secretary General of the JNI, Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu advised clerics to adhere to proper scholarly ethics and avoid personal opinions and sectarian propaganda in their preachings.

He warned that the JNI would not hesitate to sanction any scholar found wanting, in inciting violence.

Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami advised Muslims to use the social media responsibly, reminding them that they would account for their deeds in the hereafter.

He also called for the establishment of an independent regulatory body, supervised by the JNI, that would monitor the conduct of clerics.

Presenting a lecture on the Implication of Social Media on the Unity of Islamic Scholars, Professor Yahaya Mujahid of ABU Zaria called on Scholars to restrict themselves to the teachings of Qur’an and Hadith especially as the Ramadan fast approaches.

He also made a case for well vast scholars to be allowed to present lectures and seminars on Islamic knowledge to avoid misleading adherents.

There were goodwill messages from the National Security Adviser and the Governor of Kaduna State.

The event had in attendance, Islamic Scholars from the six geo-political zones, traditional rulers and representatives of female Islamic organisations.
