The Chairman House Committee on Health Institutions, Mr. Amos Gwamna Magaji says the New Federal Medical center Kafanchan Kaduna State is capable of employing about 5000 direct and indirect workers in the next few years of it’s establishment.
Mr. Amos Gwamna who stated this during an interactive session with a Forum of Southern Kaduna Journalists noted that already, a Budget line has been created for the center in the 2025 fiscal year.
He expressed concern that within Kaduna state alone, between 15,000 to 20,000 students graduate from various higher institutions every year with most of them having no job opportunities.
The House Committee Chairman therefore advocated for a private sector driven economy and advised youths to engage more in Agricultural Production and other skills acquisition programs for their livelihood.
“Nigeria graduates about 250,000 youths every year from various higher institutions in the country, Kaduna alone graduates between 15 to 20,000, where will they get employment? Until we begin to drive our economy through private sector, it is impossible for government to employ these graduates. I advised southern Kaduna Youths to get into Agricultural production”.
Mr. Amos Gwamna promised not to relent on his efforts of providing not less than 1000 bags of fertilizer every year towards Agricultural Productivity and Irrigation Farming in his constituency.
Speaking about Japa syndrome affecting the health sector, Mr. Amos Magaji said the National Assembly has given approval for purchase of several diagnostic equipments and expanding residency training for Medical Doctors including other efforts toward stopping the Japa syndrome affecting the sector.
He emphasized that he is sponsoring a bill for an act to establish Ginger Research Institute because ginger is produced mainly in southern Kaduna, and another bill to amend the root crop research institute in Samaru kataf of Kaduna State.
“Apart from that, there are other bills under my sponsorship which are: to upgrade the nok culture museum and another bills for minimum qualification for patent medicine vendors. Already, an act sponsored by me to introduce safety in Nigeria basic curriculum for CardioPulmonary Resuscitation for safety in our environment has been passed”.
He commended the inclusive leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that of the state governor, Mallam Uba Sani adding that his joining the rulling party APC will remarkably be advantageous to the people of southern kaduna in political visibility and other areas of development.
