The 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, has embarked on a five-day training program known as Operation Planning Cadre, aims at educate officers and warrant officers on combat fundamentals and techniques, equipping them to perform their duties more effectively.
The training is being held at the Division Headquarters in Sokoto State.
In his opening remarks, the General Officer Commanding the Division and Commander of Sector 2, Operation Fasan Yamma, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, said the annual event was designed to equip participants with the necessary problem-solving guidelines and operational tools for effective combat operations.
He said the initiative would provide commanders, especially junior commanders, with the essential leadership skills, emphasizing that good leadership is crucial in all military operations.
The GOC also stated that the theme of this year’s Operation Planning Cadre is “Authentic Leadership at All Levels of Command: A Prerequisite for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness.”
Major General Ibikunle Ajose noted that the 2025 activities would contribute to achieving the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, which aims to consolidate the transformation of the Nigerian Army in line with its mandate.
Radio Nigeria in Sokoto reports that participants were drawn from the Nigeria Police, Civil Defence, and other security agencies.
The GOC added that current security challenges bedeviling the country calls for a whole government and society approach in tackling the challenges stressing that coordination between security agencies is central to achieving the desired objectives.
