The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has matriculated over 4,000 newly admitted students, a number surpassing that of the previous matriculation.
Speaking at the 6th matriculation ceremony of the College of Professional and Continuing Studies (CPCS), the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Arma Ya’u Hamisu Bichi, stated that the event provides the university authorities with an opportunity to showcase the various levels of progress the institution has achieved over the years.
He also disclosed that, under his stewardship as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUDMA, with the management team, they have recorded modest achievements as through their concerted efforts the CPCS is now a college of it self with a provost.
The VC, therefore, called on matriculating students to concentrate on their studies and to shown any social vices that would tarnished their image and that of the institution.
According to him, matriculation is a rite of entrance and celebratory ceremony where various courses are offered to students who have been found worthy in learning and urged them to conduct themselves in line with the extant rules and regulations governing conduct in the university.
Professor Bichi also commended the effort of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibiril Maliya for sponsoring over 1,000 students to study in the college and urged others to borrow leaf from him.
He also cherished his timely support to the University by providing 500 street solar lights, a bus for students transportation as well as scholarship to students and urged him to do more.
Earlier, the Acting Provost of the College Dr Jamilu Lawal Ajiya commended the effort of the Vice Chancellor and the management of the University for their timely support and cooperation given to the college in order to achieve its objectives.
He advice admitted students to always marry their books and to abide by the rules of the college and the entire university community, adding that any found wanting will face wrath of the law.
In today’s Matriculation, the university is matriculating a number of over 4,000 students, which is 27.03% higher than the number graduated in the last matriculation.
