The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has warned all tactical squads against improper dressing, calling for adherence to approved uniforms during operations.

This directive comes in response to numerous complaints of human rights violations reported through the Force’s official channels.

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP states that, “No operative should be seen carrying assault arms (rifles) while dressed in civilian attire (mufti). All tactical squads are to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure, while properly dressed in the assigned uniform for the particular squad.

The IGP also addressed the issue of unauthorised case transfers. He emphasised that transferring cases without written approval from his office is strictly prohibited and will no longer be tolerated.

“Such actions place unnecessary burdens on the parties involved and lead to delays in delivering justice,” the statement reads.

The IGP concludes by urging all ranks to work together in upholding the integrity of the Force and prevent any actions capable of damaging its reputation
