Kaduna State government has expressed commitment towards exploring the opportunities presented by Artificial intelligence-AI in creativity and critical thinking in the state educational system.

The Director of Planning in the state Ministry of Education, Mallam Salisu Baba Lawal stated this at an event marking the Twenty Twenty Five World Education Day supported by UNICEF and other Development partners in Kaduna.

The Theme for the Twenty Twenty Five World Education Day is “Artificial Intelligence and Education: Protecting Human Agency During the Wave of Automation.”

Mallam Salisu Baba Lawal who was represented by Mallam Abbas Shehu of the Ministry stated that the education system must prioritize the development of skills that are complementary to Al, so as to ensure that children are equipped to thrive in a world where technology is increasingly prevalent.

He therefore urged Teachers, the students and all education stakeholders, to engage in discussions that will bring insights and perspectives in shaping the future of education in Kaduna State.

In a speech, the State Team Lead on Nigeria Learning Passport Project Mr. Philip Mamman said the project is an AI complaint platform which was launched since Twenty Twenty one and has about One Point Four Million users within the country.

He therefore encouraged Nigerians especially students to use the digital opportunity to enhance their educational performance.

Earlier while speaking on the International Day of Education UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Kaduna, Dr. Gerida Birukila says UNICEF has been instrumental in driving initiatives for Supporting Climate responsive sector plans, Safe school standards and Developing a framework for Environmental and climate literacy education and curriculum.

Some of the participating students at the event which was held at the Smart School Kaduna expressed excitement at the AI initiative with some of them saying they have since been using the Application for assignments, and other academic activities for excellence.
