The Federal Government has launched the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Program in Kaduna State, in collaboration with the AMA Foundation, a non-governmental organization.

 

The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Mr. Yusuf T. Sununu, officially flagged off the program at Tsangaya School, Jere, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Program is an initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, aimed at providing meals to Nigerian schoolchildren.

 

The program seeks to expand the existing school feeding scheme to reach ten million children across the country.

 

Speaking at the event, Minister Yusuf Sununu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the administration’s eight-point agenda and commended AMA foundation for an excellent delivery.

 

He also commended the Kaduna State Government for prioritizing the education sector and assured them that his ministry had already key into the feeding program.

 

Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, provided further insights into the program’s objectives and implementation.

 

In his remarks, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, highlighted that with Federal Government interventions, the state could achieve greater progress in education.

 

He thanked AMA foundation for providing social services to Tsangaya School at Jere and other poor communities in Kaduna and the country.

 

The National Coordinator of the National Investment Social Programme Agency, Professor Badamasi Lawal, assured that his agency would monitor and support the program to ensure its success, not only in Jere but across Kaduna State and the country.

 

In her address, the Executive Director of the AMA Foundation, Fatima Yusuf, explained that a solar-powered borehole to provide sustainable access to clean water was provided, and a newly constructed kitchen to support the preparation of nutritious meals for the pupils.

 

She explained that AMA foundation also donated shoes, plates, cups, and cutlery to enhance daily living standards for the Tsangaya students and also provided free eye care screening for both pupils and teachers.

 

According to Fatima Yusuf the ceremony also highlighted the ongoing collaboration between AMA foundation and the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Program aimed at improving nutrition and education for underserved communities.

 

“Together, we aim to establish sustainable solutions that are in line with National objectives and deliver tangible impacts” she said.

 

Meanwhile, the Principal of Tsangaya School, Mallam Aliyu Adamu, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for recognizing and supporting his school.

 

The Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Program is designed to enhance the well-being of Nigerian children, promote sustainable development, and support the country’s digital infrastructure.
