Police Deploys Helicopters to Geopolitical Zones, Parades 280 Suspects

The Nigeria Police has deployed a helicopter with modern gadgets along Kaduna-Abuja Rail Line with plans to deploy others to all the Six geopolitical Zones of the country to ensure safety of the transport system.

Inspector General of Police IGP, Kayode Egbetokun announced this in Kaduna while parading Three .Hundred and Eighty suspected criminals including terrorists and those who took part in the March Twenty Twenty Two train attack in kaduna.

The IG, represented by the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the helicopter would offer aerial support to the Armed Forces, Police, and other security agencies deployed along the axis to prevent attacks and handle any eventualities.

He noted that the proactive measures during the period resulted in the successful arrest of 81 armed robbery suspects, 73 homicide suspects, 36 rape suspects, 22 suspects involved in cult-related crimes, and 28 engaged in other criminal activities.

IGP Egbetokun said the Police have successfully recovered 16 firearms of various types, along with 226 ammunition of diverse calibers.

According to him, they retrieved 28 stolen vehicles, 600 bags of fertilizers, and a total of three million, three hundred and fifty thousand Naira paid as ransom to kidnappers.

He explained that the Nigeria Police remained steadfast in its resolve to uphold the rule of law, ensure the safety and security of all citizens, and combat criminal activities across the country.

“These recent achievements along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway underscore the zeal of the Force in fulfilling our mandate of protecting lives and property.

This special intervention and operation would be replicated in other major expressways and cities across the country through the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by the IGP.

We will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, employ innovative strategies, and harness the full force of the law to root out criminal elements and create a conducive environment for peaceful coexistence and socio-economic development” the IGP explained.

Some of the paraded criminals, speaking to Radio Nigeria, admitted to committing the offenses they were accused of.
