As the Africa marks Africa Immunization Week, Jigawa State has made significant strides in immunization, reaching an impressive 80 percent coverage rate in 2022.

The State Permanent Secretary, Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Chamo stated this at a briefing held in Dutse, the state capital.

According to him, the state has launched a new initiative to strengthen its immunization program.

He said, this include deploying mobile vaccination teams and establishing additional vaccination centers to reach the remaining twenty percent of the population.

The Permanent Secretary highlighted the state impressive record of zero cases of Meningitis, Lassa fever, Polio, and other vaccine preventable diseases.

The theme of this year’s Africa Immunization Week is “Vaccines Work: Immunization for All,” emphasizing the importance of vaccines in preventing the spread of diseases and protecting public health.
