Suspected Cow that died of poison at Atere area of Ilọrin,-by ALI MUHAMMAD RABIU

Kwara State Government says it has put in place measures to protect the public amid rumours of poisoned cow meat in certain markets in the state.

In a statement, the state commissioner for Health, Dr.Amina Ahmed El-Imam says a formidable team has been constituted to monitor the situation.

The statement explains that the state government has confiscated all the suspected meats for laboratory tests and confirmation of claims after initial engagements with the Market stakeholders.

The statement urges members of the public to remain calm while the team establishes the truth of the rumour of poisoned meat in the market.

The statement also commends the leadership of the market for their cooperation so far.

Over thirty three (33) Cows were suspected to have died of poison at Atere area of Ilorin.

It was alleged that the dead animals were slaughtered and distributed out to Butchers for sales in markets.
