Youths have been admonished to shun all vices contrary to the word of God and engage in profitable ventures to be self sufficient .
Pastor Peter Iliya – Igwe, made the call at closing ceremony of the Evangelical Church Winning All youth international week of prayers 2023 at ECWA English Service Dominion Avenue, Kaduna.
He noted that laziness and corrupt companionship influence the character of the youth negatively , while emphasising the need for repentance and revival.
Taking his sermon from the book of Luke 19 verses 13, with the theme “The expectations of God from a Christian Family” , Reverend Peter Iliya Igwe charged parents and caregivers to live up to their responsibilities and groom their children in the Christian way , to guide them through life .
He said the actions of parents go a long way to shape the future of their children, and not let societal influence impact their wards as seen in Ephesians chapter 6 verse 1 .
“Don’t leave your children at home when attending church activities , Family prayers and devotion ” , said Pastor Peter Iliya
Pastor Iliya added that as leaders of tommorow, it behoves the church and families to invest in the lives of the younger ones so that the society will have God fearing leaders devoid of corruption, immorality , crises and all forms of ills that are capable of ruining a nation or society .
“If you support the bad character of your children by covering up their wrong doings , you are contributing to their failure in life “.
On the wide spread of internet fraud popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo , he said parents should always be vigilant in the activities of their wards especially their financial transactions , and called on government to set the right instrument and policies in place to fight the ungodly act .
The theme for this year’s ECWA international youth week of prayers is “occupy till I come ” taken from Luke 19 : 13 .
