Eid-el-Kabir: Christians Join Muslims At Eid Ground In Kaduna For Peace, Unity

As part of effort to promote peace and religious tolerance in Kaduna state, some Christian Clergymen have join thousands of Muslims at the murtala Mohammed square to felicitate with them as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir led by the Former Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and life intervention ministry Pastor Yohanna Buru who led the delegations of Christians faithfuls to the praying ground said it was an annual initiative to ensure peace, unity and stability of the country, especially now that the country is in dire need of peace and Unity.

He said such occasions provided a Golding opportunity for Christians to meet, dialogue and interact with other faith to promote inter-religious tolerance, peace, stability and mutual understanding.

He called on Muslim faithfuls to embrace the sacrificial aspect of Eid-el-Kabir that include love, peace as well as promoting peaceful coexistence to move the country to a greater height.

Buru said, during Christmas celebration, thousands of Muslims from different Islamic groups such as Sunni, shiit and Tijjaniya sect from the 19 northern states of Nigeria usually joined him and other Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ to promote peace and unity.

He said, it was in consonance with the above that him alongside other Christian faithfuls visited their Muslim brothers with the sole aim of promoting peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance .

In a short presentation, Pastor Buru stressed the need for both the adherence of the two religions to shun their differences and embrace the culture of promoting peace and harmony for societal growth and development.

“We must remember that we are one family Under God and worshipping the same God “

“we all have holy books sent from one God (Qur’an and bible) “

“we are family of Adam and eve, and hence the need to live in peace and harmony with all man kind irrespective of tribe, culture, Race, color, region and continent “

He called on all Nigerians both home and abroad to embrace peace, unity and love, and that Nigeria can achieve its full potential if Nigerians put aside their differences and work together to build a stronger and more united country.

“We felicitate with Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji sa ‘ad Abubakar, sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, sheikh Ibrahim Yakubu, El, zazzaky sheikh Ahmed Mahmud Gumi, and all Islamic Scholars around the world on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Responding, Former Adviser to the Kaduna State Government on Islamic matters sheihk Halliru Maraya expressed happiness over the visit by some christian faithfuls and prayed God to give lasting peace Muslim and Christian across the 36 States of the federation for enhanced socio-economic growth and development.

The Eid-el-Kabir prayer was attended by the Former Governor of Kaduna State Alh. Ramadan Yero, as well as top Islamic scholars, and traditional titled holders among others.
