RG CAC Joins Global Panelists Discussing Beneficial Ownership Principles In Washington

Registrar-General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Alhaji Garba Abubakar at the Anti-Corruption for Development Summit in Washington DC, has Spoken during a panel session on the implementation of Beneficial Ownership Transparency Principles in Nigeria alongside counterparts from North Macedonia.

The CAC’s Head, Media Mr Rasheed Mahe in a statement explains that the International Summit is organized by the World Bank and other partners including the Open Ownership and Returning Assets.

It could be recalled that on Wednesday, may 24th– Thursday 25th, 2023, the Commission recorded another milestone achievement when unveiling the Beneficial Ownership Register (BOR), the first in Africa in accordance with global best practices.

The statement says as a follow up to the ground breaking event, a 3-day Multilateral Peer Exchange Event on Practical Aspects of Implementing Beneficial Ownership Reforms is being rounded up with applause for the CAC for implanting far-reaching reforms to improve its operations.

The gathering, which drew stakeholders from Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, South Africa, Germany, and the United Kingdom, was co-organised by the Open Ownership (OO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Stolen Assets Recovery Initiative (StAR).

The CAC has been breaking ground and achieving numerous milestones since the assumption of office by Alhaji Garba Abubakar Alias, the Digital RG.

The series of reforms rolled out by the Commission earned it many accolades from both within and outside the country.
