The Executive Director, Women Rights Initiative (WORI )Dr Laiatu Bamaiyi, on Wednesday called on Nigerians and Muslims to pray for divine protection and direction for Governor Nasir Idiris kaura administration Kebbi State.

Bamaiyi in her Sallah message in Birnin Kebbi said every true Muslim, especially women, should be grateful to God for the privilege to celebrate the 2023 Eid al-Adha irrespective of the economy challenges.

According to her, the Eid-al-Adha celebration serves as a reminder of the power of faith to bring people together, transcending borders, cultures, differences, and fostering a sense of shared humanity.

She said that Persons With Disability should be given a special considerations for inclusion under the new Government administration.

As women, we have faith in Governor Dr Nasir Idiris administration that it holds better days for people in the state and the women in particular, but we have to pray to God for divine intervention.

“Dr Nasir promise to feature women, persons with disabilities and youth “prominently” in his administration is a welcome development and an encouragement to kebbi state women to work with him.

This is why we need to pray to God to keep the new government in focus and that nothing should disarray him and his team from attaining their vision,’’ she said.

WORI said that a World Bank report stated that women make up 49 per cent of Nigeria’s population, but have mainly remained underrepresented in the political space throughout the country’s history.

“As we celebrate this festival, let’s have it in mind that we need more women and Persons With Disability in governance and we called on Dr Nasir to consider women in his appointment of commissioners, Director General of Agencies and among key officers.

“If more women are given the opportunity to serve in various Government positions, they will bring hope back to the masses and the society will benefit.

“There cannot be any meaningful development without an all-inclusive Government of women, youths and Persons With Disabilities,” she said.

WORI said that women has full confidence in the new governors and his wife, for the per cent promise of women inclusion in governance would be achieved.

Also , it is important for Government I’llto place special needs persons in positions of authority, adding that they have alot to offer in the society.

She said appointing them into such positions would give a voice to their plight while protecting their rights and it was unfortunate that disability was considered as a curse in our society today.

“No human being is created perfectly because as humans we have one form of disability or the other. “If you are not physically challenged, you could have hypertension, diabetes, ulcer or other forms of ailment.

WORI said that there are lots of women technocrats and persons with disability that could fit into any position which the governor could look into in his next appointments.

The Executive Director said the Educational System in Kebbi would remain grateful to him if revisit as he promised during his campaigns.
