Nigerian Dental Association Calls for Implementation Of Oral Health Policy

National President of the Nigerian Dental Association (NDA), Dr Adeyemi Tope Emmanuel, of the Child Dental Department of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH),has called on the need for the implementation of the National Oral Health Policy in Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement, signed by the Deputy Director Information and Public Relations unit AKTH, Hauwa Muhd Abdullahi, and made available to Radio Nigeria in Kano.

The statement pointed out that, implementation of the oral health policy , as well as the integration of the Oral Health into the primary health care centers in Nigeria, would reduce the burden of oral health diseases, in the country.

Dr. Adeyemi stressed that, it is sad to note that, some children experience tooth decay right from childhood, which sometimes result to the spread of other forms of oral diseases, due to lack of awareness and guidance on how to take care of child dental issues, at the primary health care centers.

The National President pointed out that, preparations have reached advanced stage, to secure low interest loans for their members, to set up dental clinics, to enable communities access oral health care, at the grassroots level.

He highlighted that, the Nigerian Dental Association (NDA), is the Umbrella Association of all Dental Surgeons/Dentists practicing in Nigeria, which was dedicated to the advancement of Dental Profession, at both National and International level, for the achievement of optimal oral health.

Dr. Adeyemi, appealed to his colleagues, to assist in facilitating, for the repositioning of the flagship journal of their association, for more international recognition.
