MILPOPPROF Organizes Inter-Agency Route March To Strengthen Collaboration

The need to be abreast with digital technology and new trends in communication among security agencies to strengthen the fight against insecurity has been stressed.

This formed part of discussion during the Joint Security Route March and end of year program organized by the Military, Police, and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers’ Forum, MILPOPPROF in Kaduna with the theme “esprit de Corps” to strengthen friendship and security.

Speaking at the event, MILPOPPROF Chief Facilitator and Public Relations Officer, Correctional Service Training School Kaduna, DSC. A.S Portia explained that the umbrella body that comprises spokespersons of various security agencies is aimed at deepening professionalism to enhance intelligence sharing, networking and cooperation for effective service delivery.

DSC Portia noted that the forum had recorded huge success in the areas of spokespersons synergy and intelligence sharing, easy access to information across agencies as well as facilitating friendship among rank and files.

In a presentation on “PR Practice in Contemporary Times” Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR in Kaduna Mr. Haruun Malami who tasked the organizers on professionalism urged them to imbibe new skills in digital training and the media to enable them stay abreast with current realities.

According to Haruun Malami, the world is more closely knit now than ever as alot could be achieved through collaboration and partnership.

He pointed out that, the successes recorded in the fight against insecurity today were due to synergy and collaboration, adding that, spokespersons have great stake in winning the war using communication as a formidable tool.

On his part, Country Director, Equal Access International Mr. Maji Peterx who spoke on “Critical Role of Public Relations in Crisis Management” expressed delight that the initiative was a welcome development.

He noted that, Kaduna had made significant impact on unity of agencies, and encouraged the forum to uphold the spirit as the platform is capable of bringing the needed change in the security sector.

The Country Director said, the role of communication officers is very key and strategic in any organization especially as its relates to security, hence the need for collaboration and cross fertilization of ideas across agencies to enable spokespersons professionally handle crisis situations.

Recall that the Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers’ Forum, MILPOPPROF is the umbrella body comprising image managers of all security agencies in Nigeria to foster synergy, camaraderie, inter-agency collaboration and friendship across Services.
