Yuletide: FG Removes Barricade On Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway

Federal Government has announced the removal of barricades on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highways to allow for free traffic flow for motorists plying the routes during the yuletide season.

Director Highways Construction and Rehabilitation at the Federal Ministry of works and Housing, Engineer Folorunso Esan stated this during an inspection work at the highways.

Engineer Folorunso Esan explained that the purpose of the inspection visit was to assess the level of compliance on the directive of the Minister to clear all barricades for free flow of vehicular movement during the festive season.

He maintained that the usual gridlock experienced by motorists during the yuletide necessitated the directive to contractors to clear all barriers on the sections where major works have been completed and closed for end of the year break.

The Director re-iterated the commitment of the federal government to completing on-going work at Kaduna to Zaria federal highway in the first quarter of next year, that of Kano to Kaduna before May twenty-nineth, while that of Kaduna to Abuja is expected to last eighteen months.

In a remark, Project Manager for the Kaduna to Zaria federal highway, Finn Drosdowski assured the Director of his commitment to the timely completion of the project.

Engineer Folorunso Esan also inspected the on-going rehabilitation work at the Rigachikun bridge, where he expressed satisfaction over the quality of work done, adding that motorists can now ply the bridge without any fear.

Other works inspected by the Director included the on-going work at Dumbi bridge in Zaria.

Work along the federal highway is expected to resume fully in the first week of January next year.
