2023 : INEC Engages Nasarawa Stakeholders on PVCs Collection, Rules of the Game

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has appealed stakeholders to mobilise people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs in order to vote candidates of their choice in the next year general elections.

The Nasarawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Uthman Abdulrahman Ajidagba, made the appeal during stakeholders’ meeting on PVC Collections and 2023 General Elections organized by the commission held in lafia the State Capital..

Dr. Uthman Abdulrahaman Ajidagba said PVC are on collection across the State and the country while appealing on registered voters to go and obtain their cards.

According to him, the Commission had set aside 6th-15th of January for the collection at Registration Areas RAs after which they are to be returned to Area Offices from between 15th to 22nd January, 2023.

Dr. jidagba said that the crucial engagement was aimed at rejuvenating the commission activities preparatory to the 2023 General Election.

The REC said that the Commission would conduct free, fair, credible and inclusive elections in 2023

He said that the Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to hold on 25th Feb, 2023 while the Governorship and State House of Assembly was slated for 11 March, 2023.

Also speaking, Mr Cletus Ogah, The State Chairman, of Inter-Party Advisoary Council IPAC Mr. Cletus Ogah assured of political parties readiness to always support and work with the commission to ensure the success of the election.

He called on security agencies to ensure protection of Nigerians for peaceful 2023 general elections.

In his remark, The Emir of Lafia Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed rtd said that the traditional rulers has made it mandatory for all stakeholders of the emirate to educate and sensitize their subjects on PVCs registration and collection.

The emir assured INEC of the state traditional rulers readiness to support them to succeed in its activities in the state and for peaceful election come 2023.

The stakeholders’ meeting had in attendance the Police, NSCDC, FRSC, Army, Nigeria Correctional Service, other security agencies, NOA among other leaders of political parties.
