KBSG Earmarks Over N3B For Gratuity Payment

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, has approved over three point three billion naira for the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants who disengaged from service up to September 2022.

In a statement signed by the Acting Head of the state Civil Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, indicates that the approval followed conclusion of verification of beneficiaries of 2022 gratuity and death benefit.

The statement added that, Kwaido led committee submitted one thousand, three hundred beneficiaries while the committee under the Head of Service of the state verified a total number of one thousand, two hundred and eleven benefiting workers.

The statement also announce that, Governor Bagudu, gave approval for the payment of gratuity and death benefit to three hundred and twenty-two local government beneficiaries to the sum of seven hundred and sixty-one million, eight hundred and sixteen thousand four hundred and twenty three naira, twenty nine Kobo.

It said approval was also granted for the payment of gratuity and death
benefit to three hundred and two Local Government Education Authority retired staff to the tune of five hundred and forty two million, six hundred and forty five thousand, and forty one naira, thirty eight kobo.

The statement however said, approval was given for the payment of one hundred and eighty one verified contract staff from 2019 to September 2022 amounting to one hundred and eighteen million, four hundred and forty six thousand, four hundred and fifty six naira, fourteen kobo.

The Head of Service explained that the total sum of N3,332,474,273.48 was approved by the governor to effect payment of the aforementioned categories of beneficiaries.

The statement adds that in line with the determination to pay all gratuity, the present administration has so far cleared a backlog of over 15 billion naira covering 5,460 beneficiaries from 2017 to 2022 including contract officers.
