FCC Tasks Stakeholders On Equity In Public Offices

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission-FCC, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka has reiterated the commitment of the Commission to ensure equity in the distribution of public posts and socio-economic infrastructures among the various federating units of the country.

Dr Dankaka stated this in Abuja at a sensitisation workshop organized for stakeholders from the North East geopolitical Zone.

The Workshop with the theme, Integrating Strategic Partnership with Critical Stakeholders and Advocacy on Balanced Development Organized for Ministries Departments and Agencies MDAs was aimed at charting a way forward for a robust federal character principal mandate of the Commission.

Dr. Dankaka who observed that  lack of sensitization over the years on the Commission had affected the governance, said the workshop was aimed at equipping the stakeholders on their roles in ensuring balance in Ministries, Department and Agencies, international development partners, NGO’s and Civil Societies.

Dr. Dankaka called on the participants to generate ideas with a view to strengthening operations of the commission for rapid  development.

A participant at the workshop and Chief medical Director University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Prof Ahmed Ahidjo said the federal government should take deliberate steps to discourage medical professionals from seeking greener pasture abroad.

Some of the Federal Commissioners of the Commission said they were committed to the promotion of fairness and justice in all government and non-governmental organizations.
