About four people including a village head were killed as bandits invaded Tunga Rafi village in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a local source, the bandits in a large number invaded the village at night, killing the village head and one other person in the same community.
He said they also abducted the wife and son of the village head and killed two other persons they encountered on the way as they attempted to leave the community.
A member of the community who also spoke to Radio Nigeria on phone under condition of anonymity said, the village head was slaughtered by the bandits but they fled the community when they realized people in the community were gathering to repel the attack.
He said it is the first time bandits attacked the village even though other neighbouring communities had suffered similar attacks in recent time.
“Our men came out in large numbers to repel their attack on the community but they killed our village head and 3 others and ran away”.
When contacted , the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, at the time of filling the report, said he was not aware of the incident but would confirm and get back to the Radio Nigeria reporter .
