Federal Government has directed that all flags be flown at half mast tomorrow and Monday in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In a statement, the Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola says the Ministry of Interior commiserates with the government and people of the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II was Queen of the United Kingdom from 6 February 1952 until her death on 8 September 2022.

Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the second-longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr Boss Mustapha has signed a condolence register on behalf of the Federal Government as part of activities to mourn the late Queen of England, Elizabeth the II.

Addressing newsmen after Performing the exercise at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Abuja, the SGF who described the late Queen as an important personality in the history of Nigeria, said the traditional rendition that heralded the accession of the new King was a depiction of the rich British Tradition.

Mr Boss Mustapha who went recounted the two-time visit to Nigeria stressed the need for the sustenance of the mutual ties that has existed between Nigeria and Britain.

Responding, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing appreciated the Nigerian government for the show of love and concern for her country.

The British High Commissioner expressed optimism that with the strong ties President Muhammadu Buhari shares with the new King of England, particularly on the issue of environment, Britain would continue to deepen collaboration with Nigeria.
