Police in Lagos has warned residents that the ban on commercial motorcycles will be strictly enforced in the additional four Local Government Areas starting from Thursday.

To this end, the police conducted a show of force operation to demonstrate their readiness to carry out the directive in full force.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command Mr Abiodun Alabi, warned that violators of the ban would be promptly arrested and prosecuted.

According to a statement issued by Lagos police spokesman, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, law-abiding citizens are being urged to carry out their legal responsibilities without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The enforcement of the ban on operations of the commercial motorcyclists takes effect on Thursday in Kosofe, Mushin and Somolu local government areas while the local council development areas affected are: Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Odi olowo, Isolo, Ejigbo and Bariga.

Ten out of the twenty local government areas and twenty LCDA’s have been covered by the ban.

Radio Nigeria reports that residents of the newly affected areas were seen walking to their various destinations as no commercial motorcycles are seen operating.
