Piracy: Nigerian Navy Receives Commendation

The Director General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman has commended the Nigerian Navy for its continued fight against piracy and oil theft in the Gulf of Guinea.

Dr. Mansur gave the commendation when he played host to the Management and staff of the Directorate of Naval information led by the Director of Naval information, Commodore Ayo Vaughan at the corporation’s headquarters in Abuja.

He noted that the FRCN would continue to partner the Nigerian Navy in disseminating quality information on the operations of the force across the country.

“We are ready to continue partnering the Navy to showcase the successes that the Nigerian Navy is gaining these days because a few years ago, the issue of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea was notorious and it was affecting a lot of things, even the source of revenue that we depend on, but now, that is history. In fact, recently again, the arrest of a vessel allege on a mission to steal over three million crude oil on the gulf of guinea”.

Director, Naval of Information, Navy Commodore, Ayo Vaughan noted that he was at Radio Nigeria under the mandate of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Auwal Gambo to foster a better working relationship with the FRCN.

” We hold the FRCN in very high esteem. We have been doing a lot of work particularly; media engagement.

I am actually here at the instance of our boss the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Auwal Zubairu Gambo to appreciate you sincerely, the services that we have enjoyed from the organization, and to foster the relationship that has been there even before I joined the Navy”.

Highlight of the visit by the Naval Information Directorate was a tour of some facilities of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
