The Independent National Electoral Commission says that the procedure for results transmission to be used in 2023 general election will be that used during Osun and Ekiti governorship election.

A statement by the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye states that the electronic transmission has come to stay as it adds to the credibility and transparency of the process.

It also says that the electorate are expected to follow polling unit level result viewing portal on real time on Election day.

According to the statement, the entire gamut of result management is provided for in sections 60, 62 and 64 of the Electoral Act 2022.

It also says that in line with the law, the Commission in April this year released a detailed clarification of the procedure for transmission, collation and declaration of result which was shared with all stakeholders and uploaded on the commission’s website.

The statement appeals to Nigerians to avail themselves of the provision of the Electoral Act to be well informed.

It added that this statement was to clarify the misunderstanding arising from an interview granted to a national newspaper on the procedure for result management during elections.
